Dhaka Air Unhealthy: Fifth in World on Monday Morning With a Score of 169
Dhaka's air was at an unhealthy level on Monday morning (26 October). According to data shown at 8am on IQAir, the Switzerland-based air-quality website, Dhaka stood fifth in the list of the world's polluted-air cities.
Dhaka's air-quality index score at that time was 169. Under IQAir's standard, a score of 151 to 200 is considered 'unhealthy', and Dhaka's score fell within that range.
At the top of the list was India's capital New Delhi, with a score of 203. IQAir considers a score of 201 to 300 to be 'very unhealthy'.
In second place was Lahore in Pakistan, with a score of 197. In third place was another Pakistani city, Karachi, with a score of 183.
In fourth place was Vietnam's capital Hanoi, with a score of 172. Dhaka's fifth place came with its score of 169 in that order.
IQAir provides a live, immediate index of how clean or polluted a city's air is. Under its standard, a score between zero and 50 is considered good air quality.
A score of 51 to 100 is considered moderate or tolerable. A score of 101 to 150 is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
A score above 301 is considered 'hazardous' under IQAir's standard. Dhaka's position and score in Monday morning's list were published against that same standard.
