Well-Marked Low over the Bay Raises Cyclone Fear within Three Days, Rain Likely from Tuesday

Staff Reporter

A well-marked low over the Bay of Bengal could turn into a cyclone within the next three days — that fear has emerged in the latest weather information. At the same time, there are indications of rain from Tuesday, creating a need for renewed watchfulness around the sea and the coast.

News of a well-marked low active over the sea is at the centre of this fear. Because a low can gather strength and gradually take the shape of a cyclone, this weather situation is being viewed with importance.

The mention of a three-day timeframe is especially notable. In other words, this change in the weather is not immediate, but rather in a process of gradually intensifying. For that reason, keeping a continuous watch on the sea's situation in the coming days will be most essential.

Added to this is the indication of rain from Tuesday. Reading the fear of a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal together with this rain forecast, it is understood that the country's weather may change from the middle of the week.

Meanwhile, Dhaka's weather today, Sunday, is expected to remain comparatively calm. In the forecast for the six hours from 7am on Sunday, 25 October, it was said that the sky over Dhaka and adjoining areas may be temporarily partly cloudy, but the weather is likely to remain mainly dry.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind may occur at one or two places in Chattogram Division. In other regions of the country, the sky may be temporarily partly cloudy, but the weather may remain mainly dry.

In terms of temperature, the day temperature across the country may rise slightly, but the night temperature is likely to remain nearly unchanged. For Dhaka, the forecast said the day temperature may remain nearly unchanged.

Wind may blow from the west or north-west at 6 to 12 kilometres per hour. At 6am on Sunday, the temperature in Dhaka was 24.9 degrees Celsius, and the humidity in the air at that time was 73 percent.

The day's timings are also worth noting — sunset in Dhaka today will be at 5:24pm. Tomorrow, Monday, 26 October, sunrise will be at 6:01am.

Placing today's mainly dry and calm weather alongside the news of the low over the sea gives a clear picture — although the current situation is stable, the signs of change ahead are strong. Especially for people in coastal areas, fishermen and those in sea-dependent professions, these signs carry a message of advance caution.

Whether the cyclone fear will ultimately become reality, and if it does, what its path and strength will be — the answers to these questions will come from observations in the coming days. Until then, keeping an eye on the Meteorological Department's updated information will be the wise course.

All in all, the well-marked low over the sea, the fear of it turning into a cyclone in three days and the indication of rain from Tuesday — together, these three pieces of information have made the weather the country's biggest topic of discussion right now. Everyone's eyes are now on every change in the situation.
