Father allegedly killed by son's stick blows in Gazipur's Kaliakair after refusing drug money
A father has allegedly been killed by his son's stick blows in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur after refusing to give money for drugs. The incident took place on Monday night in the Chinail Dakshinpara area of Dhaljora Union in the upazila.
The dead man was named Lovlal Chakraborty. The accused son was named Arnab Chakraborty. Arnab has been on the run since the incident.
Local residents allege that Arnab regularly used drugs, and that he often beat his father whenever he was refused money for drugs. He had previously been admitted to a drug rehabilitation centre for treatment three times.
On Monday night Arnab asked his father for money for drugs. When his father refused to give it, he struck him with a stick. Lovlal Chakraborty collapsed to the ground and died on the spot.
Kaliakair police sub-inspector (SI) Muktar said that on receiving the news, police reached the scene that night and recovered the body. The body was sent to the morgue of Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
