Pacer Shariful Islam has fetched the highest bid at the end of the A-category round of the player auction for the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) new domestic competition, the D-Three Trophy. Citizen Bank signed the left-arm pacer for 2.30 crore points.

The D-Three Trophy player auction was held on Monday (October 26) at a five-star hotel in the capital. Franchises bid large amounts of points for the national team's pacers throughout the auction.

The second-highest bid was for Taskin Ahmed. Walton spent 2.10 crore points to sign the pacer. Fortune signed opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim for 2 crore points.

Seven Rings Cement signed Saif Hassan for 1.95 crore points in the auction. H Blue Star bought pacer Hasan Mahmud for the same amount of points.

Large amounts were also spent on national team batters Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das. Fortune signed Shanto for 1.55 crore points, while Walton bought Litton for the same amount.

Citizen Bank bought Jaker Ali Anik for 1.70 crore points. H Blue Star signed Sheikh Mahedi for 1.50 crore points, and Seven Rings Cement bought Khaled Ahmed for the same amount. H Blue Star signed Enamul Haq Bijoy for 90 lakh points.

Franchises also showed interest in experienced cricketers. Seven Rings Cement signed Taijul Islam for 80 lakh points, and Walton bought Mominul Haque Sourav for the same amount. Fortune signed Soumya Sarkar for 75 lakh points, and H Blue Star signed pacer Nahid Rana for the same amount.

Seven Rings Cement signed another national team pacer, Mustafizur Rahman, for 70 lakh points. Fortune bought leg-spinner Rishad Hossain for 60 lakh points. However, Rishad will not play in the T20 version of the D-Three Trophy because of his busy Big Bash schedule.

The D-Three, or Domestic Three Trophy, is a new BCB initiative in Bangladesh's domestic cricket. The tournament has been launched with a plan to bring three formats — four-day cricket, one-day cricket and T20 — under a single competition.

The tournament will begin on December 15 with the T20 version. Four-day matches will follow in January, and the one-day version will be held in May next year.

In the six-team competition, each franchise can form a squad of up to 23 cricketers. The teams selected their icon cricketers before the auction. Walton's Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Fortune's Towhid Hridoy, Seven Rings Cement's Mushfiqur Rahim, Acme's Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, H Blue Star's Nurul Hasan Sohan and Citizen Bank's Naim Sheikh had already been assigned to teams.
