Mother and Young Son Killed in Three-Way Collision in Manirampur, Father in Hospital
A mother and her young child were killed in a three-way collision involving a fish-carrying pickup, a sand trolley and a motorcycle at Rajganj in Manirampur upazila of Jashore. The woman's husband — the child's father — was seriously injured in the incident.
The accident happened at around 7pm on Sunday (October 25) at Dodaria Mor in the Rajganj area.
The deceased are Mousumi Khatun (33), wife of Omar Faruk of Manikganj village in Rajganj, and their young son Abdur Rahman (4).
Police sources said Omar Faruk had taken his sick son Abdur Rahman to a doctor in Jashore by motorcycle, accompanied by his wife Mousumi Khatun. On the way back, as they reached Dodaria Mor in Rajganj, Manirampur, their motorcycle collided with a speeding Jashore-bound fish-carrying pickup. All three were thrown onto the road, and a sand-carrying trolley then ran over them.
Locals rescued them in a seriously injured state and sent them to the 250-bed Jashore General Hospital. Mother Mousumi Khatun and child Abdur Rahman died on the way, before reaching the hospital.
Father Omar Faruk is undergoing treatment at Ad-Din Sakina Medical College Hospital in Jashore.
Confirming the matter, Manirampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Saeed said the family has applied for the bodies to be handed over without post-mortem, and that legal measures in this regard are under process.
