Counting of Shahjalal Shrine Donation Money Under Way, Administration Says Funds Will Stay in Bank for Now
The counting of money deposited in the donation boxes of the Hazrat Shahjalal shrine in Sylhet is under way. At the same time, the district administration has said that the donated money will remain in the bank for now.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has said the shrine's donation money will be kept in a bank account for the time being. In other words, even after the counting is finished, the money is not being moved or spent on any other purpose right now.
The shrine's donation boxes collect money given by devotees and visitors. After a set period, the boxes are opened and the accumulated money is tallied, and that counting process is under way this time as well.
During the counting, the entire process is kept under proper accounting so that every amount deposited in the donation boxes is recorded. Once the counting ends, the total sum will be known.
As a result of the administration's decision, the counted money will stay safely preserved in the bank and will remain there until a further decision is taken.
The Shahjalal shrine is one of the best-known religious sites in Sylhet. Throughout the year, countless people from across the country come here and donate money into the shrine's donation boxes.
Devotees and local residents have always taken a keen interest in how the donated money is managed. The administration's position on the counting and custody of the funds therefore matters to many.
All eyes are now on the completion of the counting. Once it is done, the total amount will be known, and attention will turn to what decision is taken about the money next.
