Clear Skies Over Dhaka, Daytime Temperatures Likely to Stay Unchanged
Skies over Dhaka and nearby areas will remain clear and the weather is likely to stay mainly dry, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has said. The picture was given in a forecast issued on Saturday (24 October) for the six hours from 7am.
During this period, wind may blow from the north or north-west at 5 to 10 kilometres per hour, the forecast said. That speed is expected to remain within a normal range.
Daytime temperatures are likely to stay generally unchanged, the Met Office said. In other words, the feeling of heat is expected to remain much the same as in recent days.
At 6am today, Dhaka recorded a temperature of 26.0 degrees Celsius. At the same time, humidity in the air stood at 68 percent.
In the previous 24 hours, no rainfall was recorded in Dhaka and surrounding areas; the amount was zero millimetres. That indication of continuing dry weather matches the forecast.
On Friday, Dhaka’s maximum temperature was 33.5 degrees Celsius. Today’s minimum temperature has been recorded at 25.8 degrees Celsius.
The gap between the maximum and minimum suggests that while the day stays hot, the early morning brings comparatively more relief. With humidity high, however, the heat may feel somewhat stronger than the temperature alone suggests.
The sun will set in Dhaka this evening at 5:25pm. Tomorrow, Sunday, sunrise will be at 6:00am. The shortening days are a normal sign of the approaching winter season.
With clear skies and dry weather, no major disruption to travel and daily work is expected today. Doctors generally advise drinking enough water when spending long periods in the midday sun.
After this six-hour forecast, the updated picture for the rest of the day will depend on the Met Department’s next bulletin. For now, a dry and clear day is the most likely prospect for residents of the capital.
