Probashi Kalyan Parishad to Give Sewing Machines to 4 Women in Barlekha
With the pledge of standing beside people in the service of humanity, the Barlekha Probashi Kalyan Parishad is set to distribute sewing machines to women from four underprivileged families in Barlekha upazila, to help them become self-reliant.
The 'Sewing Machine Distribution 2026' programme, organised under the council's management, will be held on Saturday (October 24) at 11:00 AM at the International School premises in Barlekha.
The programme is funded by the council's Joint General Secretary Anwar Hossen, Assistant Organising Secretary Abu Saeed and Assistant Organising Secretary Arifuzzaman Rasel. Anwar Hossen and Abu Saeed are expatriates living in America, while Arifuzzaman Rasel is an expatriate living in Portugal.
The organisers said the sewing machines will give the women an opportunity to earn from home — along with supporting their own families, they will be able to earn by taking sewing work locally. Four families are expected to benefit directly from the initiative.
Notably, the initiative — expatriates standing beside the people of their home area despite living abroad — has been praised locally.
