Housewife's body recovered in Barlekha, police investigating cause of death

Police have recovered the body of a housewife named Sumi Jahan (38) in Barlekha upazila of Moulvibazar. The body was recovered on Monday (19 October) afternoon from a house in Chandinagar village, Ward No. 4 of the No. 5 Dakshin Shahbazpur Union of the upazila.

According to police and local sources, Sumi Jahan was the first wife of Dubai expatriate Ahaduzzaman (40). Around 3 pm on Monday, family members searching for her found her hanging inside a room of the house.

Barlekha Thana police were then informed. On receiving the news, police went to the spot, recovered the body and took it to the police station.

The deceased housewife leaves behind a 17-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son.

Barlekha Thana police said the body is scheduled to be sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital on Tuesday (20 October) morning for an autopsy.

Police say the actual cause of her death can only be confirmed once the autopsy report is received.

Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation to uncover the real cause of the housewife's death.

Details of the death will be known only after the autopsy report and the police investigation are complete, officials said.
