Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has said that reports published in various media claiming its Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar met with an intelligence agency of a country are not correct. Protesting the reports, the party said false information is being spread to damage its reputation.

The protest was issued in a statement sent to the media on Tuesday, 27 October, by the party's Assistant Secretary General and secretary of its publicity and media department, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer.

In the statement, Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami conducts its political activities in a systematic manner and maintains diplomatic relations with foreign states while upholding the dignity of the state. He strongly condemned and protested the reports about Golam Parwar.

Zubayer said those who published such information involving Golam Parwar, and those who issued a challenge to prove it, should place the truth of the allegation before the nation. The attempt to make the party's secretary general controversial with false information will not succeed, he added.

He also said it is the duty of the media to verify the truth and accuracy of information on nationally important matters and to publish responsible news based on evidence. He urged citizens to remain alert about false campaigns and propaganda and not to be misled.
