SM Rafiqul Bari, also known as Rubel Chowdhury, senior joint convener of the Sakhipur upazila unit of Jubo Dal in Tangail, has been expelled over allegations that include demanding the home minister's resignation in a Facebook post and making indecorous comments about the government and senior party leaders.

He was expelled from the party's primary membership and from all levels of party posts on charges of breaching party discipline.

The information was announced on Sunday (25 October) in a press release signed by Minhazul Islam Bhuiyan, joint general secretary of Jubo Dal's central executive committee.

The release said Rafiqul Bari was expelled on clear allegations of violating party discipline through indecorous comments on Facebook about the government and senior party leaders. Jubo Dal central president Abdul Monayem Munna and general secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan MP made the decision effective.

Earlier, on Friday (23 October), Rubel Chowdhury had posted 'I feel hurt at heart, I want the home minister's resignation' on his personal Facebook account. The post triggered discussion and criticism in local political circles.

Later, in response to journalists' questions, he raised various allegations concerning party decisions and the home minister. The incident also sparked anger among local leaders and activists.

Attempts were made several times to reach Rubel Chowdhury on his mobile phone for comment, but he did not answer the calls.
