Major reshuffle in NCP women's wing: Mahmuda Mitu made convener of Jatiya Nari Shakti, Nusrat Tabassum member secretary
The existing committee of Jatiya Nari Shakti, the women's organisation of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has been dissolved. A partial convening committee has been announced at the same time, with Member of Parliament Mahmuda Mitu as convener and Member of Parliament Nusrat Tabassum as member secretary.
The information was given on Sunday in a message signed by NCP office secretary Sadia Farzana Dina. The decisions to dissolve the old committee and approve the new one were formally announced through the party message.
The message said that, on the instructions of National Citizen Party convener Md Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain, the existing committee of Jatiya Nari Shakti was being dissolved and a new convening committee (partial) approved. The decision, in other words, came on the orders of the party's top two leaders.
The responsibility of convener in the new committee has gone to Mahmuda Mitu. The main burden of leading the women's organisation now rests with MP Mitu.
Another Member of Parliament, Nusrat Tabassum, has been given the responsibility of member secretary. Both top posts in the partial committee — convener and member secretary — have gone to Members of Parliament.
Advocate Manjila Jhuma has been given responsibility as chief organiser in the committee. The coordination of organisational work will rest with her.
The new convening committee has been instructed to publish a full committee within the next fifteen days. This partial structure is therefore temporary; the full picture of the organisation's leadership will become clear once the complete committee is out.
The decision to dissolve the existing committee and install a new one marks a clear reshuffle in the organisation's leadership. In place of the old committee, responsibility now passes to a structure led by the new convener, member secretary and chief organiser.
No separate reason for dissolving the committee was mentioned in the message. The party announcement gave only the decision, the names of the new office-bearers and the deadline for the full committee.
Attention will now be on the next fifteen days — if the full committee is published within that time, the complete shape of Jatiya Nari Shakti's new leadership will be known, and the organisation's next activities will move forward through that committee.
