HSC and Equivalent Results to Be Published on October 29, Ending the Wait for More Than 1.27 Million Candidates

Staff Reporter

The results of this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will be published on Thursday, October 29. With the date now fixed, the long wait for hundreds of thousands of candidates and their families across the country has a clear end point.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, announced the information on Saturday night. His announcement ended speculation over when the results would come.

Earlier, the education boards had sent a proposal to the Ministry of Education to publish the results on a day between October 25 and October 29. October 29, the last day in that proposed window, has now been set as the publication date.

This year's HSC and equivalent examinations began on July 2. Since the long examination period ended, candidates had been waiting to learn when the results would arrive.

In total, there were 1,270,583 candidates this year, counting both regular and irregular candidates. That huge number alone shows how important this single result is to so many families.

However, a considerable number of candidates were absent from the examinations, according to the information available. The number who actually sat the exams and will receive results will therefore be somewhat lower than the total number registered.

The HSC and equivalent results are one of the biggest milestones in education in Bangladesh. On the basis of these results, students shape their plans for higher education, admission preparation and, for many, the direction of their future careers.

That is why announcing the date means more than simply naming a day. It allows students to organise the timetable for their next steps and allows families to move forward with their plans.

The process from the boards' proposal to the final date was completed relatively quickly this time. Because the date was finalised within the proposed October 25 to 29 window, candidates no longer have to remain in uncertainty.

All eyes are now on October 29. When the results are published that day, the overall picture of this year's candidates' achievement will become known at once.

After the results are published, new information will follow step by step about what students should do next and about admission to higher education. For now, more than 1.27 million candidates and their relatives are counting down the wait.
