Wrestling Legend Ric Flair, 77, Rushed to Tampa Hospital After Fall Outside Bar, Head Injuries Reported
Pro wrestling legend Ric Flair was reportedly rushed to a Florida hospital after falling outside a bar in Tampa. According to TMZ, Flair injured his face in the fall and may have suffered a concussion.
TMZ said Flair was at a Tampa bar when he walked outside and fell. He cut his head and eye, which was bleeding, and was loaded into an ambulance.
Tampa Fire Rescue told OutKick and Fox News Digital that it responded to a fall outside the establishment and that an adult male was taken to a local hospital. The department did not name Flair, saying it could not provide patient particulars due to HIPAA guidelines.
The reported fall came hours after Flair announced he would be unable to attend a scheduled appearance in Seattle because of a blood clot in his leg.
On X, he wrote that his doctors have limited his travel to three to four hours, and Seattle falls outside that range. As disappointed as he was, he said, he has to put his health and recovery first.
Flair added that blood clots are extremely serious and can be life-threatening. Pointing to Jalen Hurts and the complications involving blood clots in his lungs, he said it is a reminder that this is not something to take lightly and that he must follow medical advice.
He said he is slated to have surgery on the affected vein, which his doctors expect will allow him to be cleared for more travel afterward.
He stressed the decision was not made lightly, apologised for the inconvenience and disappointment, and thanked fans for their patience, understanding and continued support, saying he looked forward to getting healthy and seeing everyone down the road.
Flair, 77, has battled health and alcohol issues over the years, the report noted.
He has been in and out of wrestling in recent years. His so-called 'Last Match' took place in 2022 — a tag-team match with his then-son-in-law Andrade against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. He later revealed he passed out twice during the match.
Flair made his All Elite Wrestling debut in 2023 and was briefly part of Sting's final professional match at AEW Revolution, where Sting and Darby Allin took on the Young Bucks.
During his career he was a World Championship Wrestling world heavyweight champion eight times, a National Wrestling Alliance world heavyweight champion nine times and a WWE champion twice.
WWE inducted Flair into its Hall of Fame in 2008 as a singles wrestler and again in 2012 as a member of the Four Horsemen.
No detailed update on his condition after this latest hospital visit was immediately available, as fans wished the legend a speedy recovery.
