Pedestrian Yasin Killed by Private Car at Kuril Bishwa Road, Another Young Man Injured in Hospital

Staff Reporter

A pedestrian named Yasin (60) has been killed after being hit by a private car while crossing the road at Kuril Bishwa Road in the Khilkhet area of the capital. Another pedestrian, Md. Imran (26), was injured in the same incident and is receiving treatment in hospital.

The accident happened at around 6:30 pm on Friday. According to the people who brought them to hospital, a private car struck them as they were crossing the road in the Kuril Bishwa Road area. Yasin was thrown onto the road and seriously injured in the impact.

After the accident, nearby pedestrians rescued the two injured men. At around 9 pm they were taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After examination there, the doctor on duty declared Yasin dead.

Md. Habibur Rahman, inspector of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost, confirmed the death. He said treatment of the injured Imran was under way in the emergency department.

Mohammad Lijon, a pedestrian who brought the two injured men to hospital, said Yasin was seriously hurt when the private car hit him while crossing the road at Kuril Bishwa Road in the evening. On the way to hospital, Yasin was able to say only his own name.

According to Lijon, Yasin could not give any details about where he lived or what he did. As a result, no fuller information about his identity was known by the time he reached the hospital.

The body of the deceased Yasin has been kept in the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. No further information about identification or the next procedural steps was available in the material for this report.

The injured Md. Imran said his home is in the Moghbazar area of the capital. He had gone out in the evening to visit the 300 Feet area. He said he was injured when the private car hit him while he was crossing the road there.

The Kuril Bishwa Road and 300 Feet area draws many people in the evening. The accident happened while roads there were busy with visitors and regular pedestrians, again raising questions about pedestrian safety in the area.

The material gave no information about the driver of the private car or the vehicle itself in this incident. Details about the cause of the accident and any subsequent legal process will be reported if they become known. For now, attention rests on Imran's treatment and on confirming the full identity of the deceased Yasin.
