No Change in Temperatures for Two Days, Bay of Bengal Low May Intensify

Staff Reporter

Day and night temperatures across the country are likely to remain nearly unchanged over the next two days. The weather is also expected to stay mainly dry during this period, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

Meteorologist Md Tariful Newaz Kabir shared the information in a forecast issued for the 48 hours from 6pm on Friday.

According to the forecast, the weather may remain mainly dry with a temporarily partly cloudy sky across the country during the first 24 hours from Friday evening. In other words, clouds may drift across the sky, but rain is unlikely.

Similar conditions may prevail during the following 24 hours from Saturday evening, when the weather is again expected to be mainly dry with a temporarily partly cloudy sky.

A change, however, is brewing over the sea. A low-pressure area has formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining southeast Bay. The Met Department said it may intensify further.

The forecast gave no further details about the low's likely track or strength. For now, residents of coastal areas and those travelling at sea will need to watch the department's next bulletins.

No rainfall was recorded anywhere in the country in the last 24 hours. The forecast suggests this dry spell may continue over the next two days.

In temperature readings, the highest maximum in the last 24 hours was 35.6 degrees Celsius, recorded at Sandwip and Ambagan. The lowest minimum was 18.5 degrees Celsius at Tetulia.

The wide gap between the highest and lowest readings shows that while days still feel warm, nights and early mornings are turning cooler in the country's north.

Overall, no major weather change is expected in the next two days. But if the Bay of Bengal low intensifies, the picture could change, and the next forecasts should make that clearer.
