Kishore Gang Leader 'Kenta Firoz', Accused in Seven Cases Including Murder, Arrested in Mohammadpur

Staff Reporter

Police have arrested Firoz, alias 'Kenta Firoz', a kishore gang leader accused in a total of seven cases including murder, in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area. The long list of serious allegations against him has made the arrest a major talking point in the neighbourhood.

He was arrested on Thursday (22 October) at around 7:30 p.m. beside Alam's garage on Road 5 of Future Model Town in Mohammadpur. He was detained during an operation carried out on specific information.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Jewel Rana of the Tejgaon division's Mohammadpur zone confirmed the arrest. He said 'Kenta Firoz' faces a total of seven cases at Mohammadpur police station, including cases of murder, extortion, fighting and offences under the Narcotics Control Act.

According to the police list of cases, the most serious is a murder case filed on 28 September 2024, in which charges were brought under Sections 302 and 34 of the Penal Code — covering murder and acts done in furtherance of a common intention.

Just a day earlier, on 27 September 2024, another murder case had also been filed against him. Being accused in two murder cases on consecutive days underlines the gravity of the allegations recorded against him.

The most recent case was filed on 29 October 2025, accusing him of fighting, trespassing, theft and extortion. In other words, fresh criminal allegations were still being filed against him until roughly a year before his arrest.

The list of earlier cases is also long. In May 2020 a case was filed against him over fighting, theft and intimidation, and another case filed in March of the same year accused him of fighting, attempted murder, causing grievous hurt and theft.

There are also multiple drug-related allegations. A case was filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act in March 2018, and another under the same law in May 2019. The records thus show cases against him in almost every year from 2018 to 2025.

Police sources describe him as a kishore gang leader. Against a backdrop of local concern over gang-related crime involving teenagers in Mohammadpur, the arrest of an alleged leader is being seen by those concerned as an important step for maintaining law and order.

Following the arrest, the legal process in the seven cases against him is now expected to move forward. With an accused in two murder cases among them now in custody, residents hope the investigation and trial process in those cases will gain pace.
