3,280 Patients in a 1,300-Bed Hospital as Intern Doctors Observe a Work Stoppage

Staff Reporter • Reading time: 1 min

As many as 3,280 patients are admitted to a hospital that has only 1,300 beds — more than two and a half times its bed capacity.

At the same time, intern doctors at the hospital are observing a work stoppage, which has added further pressure on medical services, according to the report.

With far more patients admitted than there are beds, space shortages in the wards are inevitable, adding strain for patients and their relatives as well as for doctors and nurses.

Intern doctors handle a large share of a hospital's day-to-day medical work, so their stoppage risks affecting both emergency and general services.

The collected report did not include details such as the hospital's name, the reasons behind the stoppage, or the interns' demands, so an official statement from the authorities is awaited for the full picture.

There are calls in concerned quarters for a quick resolution so that patients' suffering is reduced and normal medical services are restored.
