Florida Attorney Arrested After Allegedly Threatening to Shoot ICE Agents While Trying to Buy a Gun
A Florida attorney has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill agents of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Federal authorities said she made the threats while trying to buy a gun at a firearms shop.
The arrested woman is Lisa White. Although she is a Florida attorney, she lives in Mississippi. She was arrested in Long Beach. According to ICE, she allegedly threatened to 'kill federal agents' while attempting to purchase a firearm and pepper spray.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) announced the arrest in a post on X, identifying White as a Florida attorney. HSI Gulfport special agents then responded, interviewed witnesses and located and arrested her.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by the Sun Herald, the investigation began on September 23, after an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) alerted HSI to the encounter at High Caliber Guns.
The complaint says White entered the store at around 11:30 a.m. and told employees, 'I need a gun.' She allegedly identified herself as an activist and protester and said she wanted a firearm for protection at a protest because she believed 'ICE agents are becoming crazy and wild.'
But according to the complaint, White also told an employee that she wanted to buy a gun to kill ICE agents. While discussing the weapons, she allegedly gestured toward her torso and asked whether the guns could penetrate an agent's ballistic vest.
The complaint further states that if the bullets could not breach the armour, White said she would need to 'hit them in the head, shoulder, arm or leg.'
A shop employee reportedly warned White that pointing a gun at law enforcement would likely get her killed. 'If I have to die, I have to die,' White responded, according to the complaint.
The employee then suggested White buy pepper spray instead of a gun and directed her to a shooting range for training. White looked at two pistols but left empty-handed after the shop declined to complete the sale and told her she could return in two to three days.
Store employees then alerted authorities, prompting the investigation that led to White's arrest. Authorities are treating threats against federal agents seriously, and the case will now proceed through the courts.
