Kishoreganj Express Leaves for Dhaka After Being Stranded for Over Three Hours With a Failed Engine

Staff Reporter • Reading time: 1 min

The Kishoreganj Express has finally left for Dhaka after being stranded at Kishoreganj railway station for more than three hours because its engine broke down.

The train left the station at around 7:15pm on Wednesday. Only then could its passengers begin their delayed journey towards the capital.

The train had been scheduled to start its Dhaka-bound journey at 4pm. Passengers were expected to be at the station for that scheduled departure.

But the engine failed before the journey could begin. As a result, the train could not leave the platform at its scheduled time.

With its engine out of order, the train stood at the platform for three hours and fifteen minutes. Throughout that time, passengers had to wait at the station.

Passengers stranded at the station suffered considerable inconvenience. As the evening wore on, anxiety also grew about when they would reach Dhaka.

Kishoreganj railway station master Khalilur Rahman confirmed the matter at around 7:30pm on Wednesday.

The station master said the train had stood at the platform for more than three hours because its engine had broken down. His statement made both the cause and the duration of the delay clear.

Later, a rescue engine was brought from Akhaura in Brahmanbaria. Only after that engine was attached could the train's journey begin.

There was no alternative but to wait until the rescue engine arrived. Once it reached the station, preparations to restart the journey were completed.

At 7:15pm the train left Kishoreganj station for Dhaka. That brought an end to the passengers' long and uncertain wait.

The incident has again shown how a technical fault in an engine can disrupt an entire intercity journey. The main expectation now is that the passengers reach Dhaka safely.
