Birth and Death Registration Services Suspended for Seven Days for BDRIS Maintenance

Staff Reporter • Reading time: 1 min

All birth and death registration activities will remain suspended for seven days as the online BDRIS software undergoes maintenance. During this period, every birth and death registration-related activity across the country will be closed, officials have announced.

A notice from the Office of the Registrar General, Birth and Death Registration, conveyed the information. According to the notice, maintenance work on the BDRIS software will run from 6 am on October 19 to 6 am on October 25.

The notice makes clear that all birth and death registration-related activities will remain suspended throughout the maintenance period. As a result, services including new birth registrations and death registrations will not be available during these seven days.

The notice has been sent to the relevant city corporations, deputy commissioners, upazila nirbahi officers, municipalities, cantonment boards and all registration offices across the country, as well as other concerned offices, so that local offices can prepare in advance.

Birth and death registration is an essential service for citizens — without a birth certificate, admission to educational institutions, passports and many other government services become difficult to obtain. Those who urgently need registration-related work during this maintenance window will therefore have to wait until the system comes back online after 6 am on October 25.

According to the authorities' announcement, the software is expected to resume operation on schedule once the maintenance is complete.
