"We are all human — that is what matters most": Finance Adviser Titumir visits puja mandaps in Goalanda

"You call them Harijan — in truth, we are all human. And that is the most important thing." With these words, Rashed Mahmud Al Titumir, Finance Adviser to the Prime Minister with the rank of minister, expressed his commitment to social harmony, human dignity and an inclusive Bangladesh.

He made the remarks on Tuesday (20 October) at around 11am while visiting several Durga Puja mandaps in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari.

When he arrived in the upazila, the local administration welcomed him with the gift of a flowering bonsai tree.

The Finance Adviser said: "Our main goal is to build a Bangladesh where everyone can participate. Harmony and patriotism will prevail among all. We want to build the Bangladesh we aspire to, together with everyone."

He said the Prime Minister speaks of a philosophical foundation — Bangladesh first, Bangladesh with everyone, and Bangladesh for everyone — and that the government is working to reflect that vision.

Speaking of the role of religious leaders, Titumir said: "You have seen that since our government took office, honorarium allowances are being given to imams, muezzins, priests and Buddhist monks. We want religious leaders, including priests, to play their important role in society."

His remarks centred on mutual respect and coexistence among people of all faiths: not division by identity or religion, but dignity as human beings above all — that was the message he delivered during the mandap visits.

Also present were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Tarif Ul Hasan, Zila Parishad administrator Abdus Salam Mia and UNO Saiful Huda.

Ghat police station OC Shafiqul Islam, upazila BNP president Nizam Uddin Sheikh, general secretary Mosharraf Ahmed, upazila Jubo Dal member secretary Sanowar Ahmed and upazila Swechchhasebak Dal member secretary Abu Said Mondal were also present, along with other leaders of the BNP and its affiliates.

A festive atmosphere prevailed at Goalanda's mandaps for Durga Puja, and worshippers expressed satisfaction at the visit by a senior government representative.

The Finance Adviser's visit and remarks spread a message of harmony across the area. In his words, everyone's participation is essential to building the country — and the foundation of that participation is mutual respect and human dignity.
