Body of expatriate's wife recovered from rented house in Bagerhat's Sharankhola
Police have recovered the body of a 26-year-old housewife named Shanta Akter Juin in Sharankhola, Bagerhat.
On Saturday, October 17, at around 10 pm, her body was recovered from a rented house in an area adjacent to the Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex, found hanging by a rope around the neck.
Sharankhola Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rokeya Khanam confirmed the matter.
The deceased Juin was the wife of Anwar Hawlader of Paschim Rajapur village in Sharankhola Upazila. Anwar Hawlader is an expatriate in Kuwait.
The couple has an 11-year-old daughter. The incident occurred amid this family situation, with the husband living abroad.
Local people said they had learned that while her husband was abroad, Juin had developed a relationship with another man. Locals also claim that she was living with that man in the rented house.
However, police said the identity of that man and his involvement in the incident could not be confirmed. It is known that the man has been absconding since the incident.
The owner of the house, Md. Farid Hossain, said that on October 5, Juin rented the house presenting themselves as husband and wife. That rental information is now also being looked at as part of the investigation.
Sharankhola Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rokeya Khanam said the body has been recovered. Legal measures will be taken in the incident after the investigation is completed.
At the same time, police said the circumstances behind the incident and whether any other person is involved are being examined. Until the investigation is finished, no final conclusion can be reached about the cause of the incident — that is the police's current position.
